Founded on May 13, 2012, in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States, by patriotic Ivorian men and women residing in the United States, the Committee of Actions for Côte d’Ivoire (CACI) is a citizen-led political movement that advocates for a peaceful and inclusive political transition as a credible alternative for lasting peace, transparent political dialogue, effective national reconciliation, and democratic institutions in Côte d’Ivoire.

Background

Deeply concerned by:

• The tearing apart of Côte d’Ivoire’s social fabric resulting from the 2002 crisis, the failure of peace agreements and resolutions, the direct intervention of the French army in the crisis, and the international community’s biased approach to managing the Ivorian crisis,
• The rise in insecurity and the constant violations of the Ivorian Constitution, and
• The illusion of peace and the failure of national reconciliation,

About ten civil society organizations, along with Ivorian and African intellectuals residing in the United States, have come together to form a platform whose primarily peaceful actions aim to promote sovereignty, justice, democracy, and the social and economic development of Côte d’Ivoire and Africa

On November 23, 2022, noting the failure of Ivorian political parties to propose new policies that promote the well-being of the Ivorian people, a general assembly of the CACI held in Beltsville, Maryland, unanimously approved a motion to transform CACI into a political movement.
